Setting up emails on android & iPhone devices: A step-by-step guide.

Would you like to receive your emails on your phone or tablet? We can help you set up.  Kindly follow the steps below to configure IMAP on your device. Assuming you want to configure the email account info@mydomain.com, see below.

Set up on Android devices.

Go to applications on your device and find the Email icon. (Don’t confuse this with the Gmail icon.)

Enter the Email address and its Password as created in cPanel.
Click “Next” and follow the on-screen prompts, and the phone will complete the setup process automatically.
To manually configure your connection settings. Here is what to do;
Click on “Add Email Account” and select “IMAP”
Enter your Incoming server settings. This should include your username, password, IMAP server, Security type, Port number. See example below.

Username: info@mydomain.com
Password: MyEmailPassword
IMAP server: mail.mydomain.com
Incoming port: 143 and security type is: “NONE”.
Enter the outgoing server settings as shown below.
Outgoing server: mail.mydomain.com
Outgoing port: 25
Security type: “NONE”
Select “Require sign in”, “sync mail”, notify me when an email arrives” and “never delete mail from the server”
Give your account a name and click on “Done”.
In case you get an optional field anywhere in the process, do not leave it blank especially if the field refers to the username and password.

Click continue/done. Your email inbox will be displayed. You can test the setup by sending an email. The email client will check your settings and connect to your account

NB: When configuring IMAP with SSL/TSL, the security type is changed to SSL/TSL and the incoming port changed to 993 and outgoing port to 465

Set up on iPhone devices.

When doing the set up on iPhone, here are the steps to follow.
On the iPhone, tap Settings.
Click on Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
Click Add Account.
Click Other account.
Click Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (info@mydomain.com), and Password and Description fields.
Click Next.
Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter your incoming mail server information:
Hostname: mail.mydomain.com
Username is your full email address: info@mydomain.com
The password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter your outgoing mail server information:
Hostname: mail.mydomain.com
Username is your full email address: info@mydomain.com
The password is the same password used to access webmail.
Click Next.
The iPhone will attempt to establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers. If this succeeds, you will be done and can proceed to the next step. If this fails, you will see the prompt, “Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?”
Click No.
Click Save.
When prompted, “This account may not be able to send or receive emails. Are you sure you want to save, click save.
Click on the account you just added (identified by info@mydomain.com)
Scroll down and Click the SMTP button.
Select the server you just added, identified by mail.mydomain.com
Select OFF for Use SSL.
Select Password for Authentication
Select 25 for Server Port.
Click the SMTP button to go back.
Click your email address to go back.
Click Advanced.
Scroll down to Incoming Settings.
Select OFF for Use SSL.
Select Password for Authentication.
Select 143 for Server Port.
Click your email address to go back.
Click Mail to go back.
Click the Home button.
Click the Mail App to check your configuration.
To complete the setup, Click Account and Done.
